Two things make Gilbert's market distinctive.
First, the specialty depth. A Banner MD Anderson partnership means oncology roles that would normally require moving to a major metro. Banner Gateway's campus was also built with room to triple in size, so expansion is planned rather than hypothetical.

The Arizona Rule You Need to Know
Arizona is one of only about a dozen states that specifically address Medical Assistants in state law, and the rule applies statewide.
The good news: Arizona doesn't license Medical Assistants. No state exam, no state credential.
The catch: Arizona Administrative Code R4-16-401 controls whether a clinic can legally hire you. Before you start, your supervising physician or physician assistant has to confirm you've completed one of three things:
- An approved Medical Assistant training program
- An unapproved program and a certification exam from an accredited organization
- A physician-designed training program that meets state requirements

In Arizona, if your training program isn't on the approved list, passing a nationally accredited certification exam isn't just recommended. It's how you meet the state's legal standard to be employed as a Medical Assistant (A.A.C. R4-16-401).
The CCMA, CMA, RMA, and NCMA all come from organizations that meet Arizona's accreditation standard. So if you're coming out of a shorter or non-accredited program, that exam is the requirement standing between finishing school and being eligible to work.
It's also worth knowing where the role stops. In Arizona, a Medical Assistant works under a physician, physician assistant, or nurse practitioner and performs tasks they've been trained for. You won't diagnose patients, interpret medical data, or change treatment plans.
